Selected as one of
four national middle college pilot sites for the
American Social History Program (ASHP) and as the
Midwestern Site for the Dissemination of the ASHP
Curriculum; Mott Middle/Early College initiated the
first outreach program of national ASHP Curriculum
1994
Selected as the
Midwestern Site for the Replication of Middle Colleges
Awarded the Education
Excellence Award from the Michigan Association of School
Boards
1995
Planned, sponsored
and hosted in Flint the Third Annual National Middle
College Conference. Theme: Peacemakers for Tomorrow
Selected pilot site
for the National Critical Friends Review (CFR) Project
funded by the Annenberg Foundation. Mott Middle/Early College received an outstanding report during this
process
1996
Selected as National
Action Research Site for CPM and IMP curricula
1997
Steel Band received
top honors at Heritage International Music Festival in
London, England and Chicago, Illinois. The band was
also selected to open for the Canadian Brass at the
Bands of America National Concert Band Festival in
Indianapolis, Indiana
1998
One-hundred percent
of the Class of 1998 enrolled in college upon
graduation; class had an average GPA of 3.084; three of
these graduates enrolled as college sophomores
Mott Middle/Early College participated in peace initiative inspired by
Seventh Dream; four students joined other area students
in traveling with this drama production to Washington,
D.C. and speaking to lawmakers on Capitol Hill
Two staff published
professionally and research on program received

Mott Middle/Early College received North Central Association accreditation
and piloted the first NCA/Critical Friends Review school
improvement assessment
2000
Received New Media
Classroom National Endowment for the Humanities grant in
partnership with Mott Community College
2001
Mott Middle College
became a replication coaching site for Career Education
Center in Denver, Colorado
2002
A countywide 10-year
celebration was held in the winter of 2002 honoring Mott Middle/Early College 's staff, graduates and programming
2003
Mott Middle/Early College received a national Bill & Melinda Gates
Foundation award to implement an EXCEL/Early College
component
Mott Middle/Early College /MCC received a 3-year dropout prevention grant
from the Mott Foundation
2004
Mott Middle/Early College successfully piloted its first Excel Level III
cohort
Received recognition
in Governor Granholm's State of the State Address
2005
Mott Middle/Early College featured in documentary “Fresh Start” produced
by WFUM Channel 28
Graduated first EXCEL
level III student, who earned two associate’s degrees/
high school diploma
in 4 years
Mott Middle/Early College received one of eleven National Tech Prep
Demonstration Program five year grant awards
2006
All graduates dual
enrolled and were accepted by Mott Community College
Re-confirmed NCA
accreditation and CFR approval
2007
MMC faculty
reviewed and re-organized graduation requirements
based on the new Michigan Merit Curriculum.
